A man busted by state police after he was found with a stolen motorcycle in the back of his truck. State Polcie say 26 year old Duston Z. Duvall from Fairdale, Kentucky was driving in the emergency lane n the Western Kentucky Parkway at about the 110 mile marker. A trooper stopped him to see if he needed help. The officer says Duvall wasn’t sure about where he was headed or where he came from. He then ran a check on the motorcycle and found it had been stolen from Louisville earlier this month. Duvall was charged with numerous traffic violations as well as receiving stolen property.
Medal of Honor Winner Gets Local Honors
More honors for Sergeant Dakota Meyer. This time, it was at a ceremony at the Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown. The medal of honor winner was presented with a custom engraved rifle donated by Sporter Express. President Obama awarded Sergeant Meyer with the Medal of Honor in September for his act during battle in 2009, when the Greensburg native went back into combat in Afghanistan to retrieve four fellow marines.
2 Radcliff Men Busted for Assault
Two men from Radcliff have been arrested and charged with assault. That comes after police got a call from a man saying he had been stabbed in the back and had gotten cuts on his face and hands. Charged with the attack are 21 year old Armstead Baylor and 26 year old Gary Johnson. The injuries the man had gotten are not believed to be life threatening but he was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital
Grayson Co Meth Bust at Church
A man standing around outside a church when there were no services has been busted for having meth ingredients. The News Enterprise says staffers from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department saw 21 year old Adam Whaley of Falls of Rough hanging out in the parking lot of the Caney Creek United Methodist Church. Police talked to him, and found he was carrying materials used to make meth. Whaley was released from jail three months ago, after similar charges were filed against him.
Beer Sales Brisk in Elizabethtown
Beer’s been good to several retailers in the area. The News Enterprise is reporting that business has been brisk for local retailers who have gotten beer licenses over the past month. In fact, one retailer, John Lewis, who owns two John O’s stores in Elizabethtown, says he had to work an 18 hour day just to keep up with the demand.
Search for Hardin Co. Escapee Continues
Police say they’ve been getting information on the whereabouts of a man who escaped from the Hardin County Detention Center last month, but still haven’t been able to track him down. It was on November 20th when Lonnie Ray Coy dug a hole under the fence at the center and crawled out under it. He was with 19 year old Joshua Nunn at the time. Nunn was captured just days later in a Rineyville home. Police got a tip recently that Coy may be hiding in the Teller County area of Colorado. They contacted officials there, who did a search of a residence, but they came up empty handed.
Hart Co. Crash Kills One
State police report that a Cave City man has died in a car crash in Hart County. They say Edward Green was westbound on Kentucky 88 when he crossed the center line and hit another car. Green was taken by ambulance to Cub Run Elementary School to meet a medical helicopter, but he died before the air ambulance could take off. A man in the other car was also injured, but he’s listed in stable condition at the University of Lousville Hospital. Police say alcohol was not a factor, but neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
Civilian Job Cuts at Ft. Knox
Fort Knox officials say they have to cut civilian jobs…but they’re working to do it without resorting to layoffs. 133 civilian jobs must go, due to a orders from the Army. The army is cutting its overall civilian workforce by 8700. The cuts are due to be made by next September. Fort Knox is reducing its workforce down from the current 715 civilian jobs to 582. And they’re hoping to do it with hiring freezes, early retirement and attrition.
Sex Offenders Found in Fayette Co.
It’s called Operation Bluegrass Corral…an effort by the U-S Marshall’s service to round up sex offenders who haven’t registered on the sex-offender registry in Fayette County. So far two fugitives have turned themselves in. 55 year old Wayne Brian Wade turned himself in to Fayette Sheriff Deputy William Hoagland Tuesday. Last week, 36 year old Melissa Mae Brown turned herself in. There are three more who are wanted. They are Lane R. Weidner, Antonio Luis Angel Fuentes and Kenneth Martin. The five were not found during recent compliance checks by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Funeral for Army Spc. Bragg at Ft. Knox Today
A military funeral today for Army Spc. Mikayla Bragg at Fort Knox. Family members say they plan to hold a public funeral in early January but specific details have not been made. Bragg was shot and killed last week while on guard duty in Afghanistan.
